Purpose of the role

As Junior Project Manager, you will manage strategic bids and projects in Outreach, Public Diplomacy, Communication and Events. You are responsible for all phases of the projects, from initiation to closure, controlling risk and minimising uncertainties.
You will be expected to manage & support management of different contract types both in Technical Assistance and Frameworks. You will manage projects from our headquarters in Brussels, and you will have the opportunity to work as an expert in the field in various countries.

Key responsibilities

Project acquisition
  • You will participate in the development of new projects (including fact finding mission, proposal writing, partnership set up and experts’ selections), particularly in the Balkans, the Neighborhood region and in Francophone ACP countries, on communication, public diplomacy, and events projects. 
  • You will support the team in other bid management processes;
  • You will manage and expand our network of experts, clients and partners 
  • You will build and maintain a positive image of GOPA PACE with key partners & stakeholders.
Project management
  • You will ensure successful implementation of project results; while meeting financial targets;
  • You will provide backstopping in the field and remotely; 
  • You will be expected to autonomously handle all communication & event related aspects of the contracts you manage;
  • You will ensure client relations, represent GOPA PACE on the field and contribute to its excellent reputation.
A BACKGROUND THAT CONVINCES US
Desired competencies and experience

  • You hold a university degree in a related field (such as Politics, Cooperation Studies, Communication, Marketing, International Relations)
  • You have at least 2 years of relevant experience (International Cooperation, Communication, Event Management, Journalism, etc…)
  • You have at least 1 year of experience in Project Management and/or Business Acquisition.
  • Demonstrated experience in business development activities such as expert searching, proposal writing; will be considered as an asset
  • Knowledge/interest/experience of work about Francophone Africa and about Southern Neighborhood would be an asset;
  • You have excellent communication and drafting skills in English and French;
  • You have excellent organisation skills with strong attention to detail, strong time management/ prioritisation skills;
  • You are a strong team player in a multi-language/multi-cultural environment;
  • You are a proactive problem solver with a can-do attitude, with the ability to think outside the box and come up with proactive suggestions to your colleagues and our clients;
  • You are willing to travel 10-20% of your time;
Above all, you are a true team player with a friendly, open personality and a sense of humour.
